Stone, Oliver
(n. 15 sep. 1946, Nueva York, N.Y., EE.UU.).

Director de cine estadounidense. Estudió en la Universidad de Yale, y combatió en Vietnam antes de estudiar cine en la Universidad de Nueva York. Debutó como director con Seizure (1974) y escribió guiones para numerosas películas que se distinguieron por su violencia y ritmo veloz, entre las que se cuenta Expreso de medianoche (1978). Escribió y dirigió Pelotón (1986, premio de la Academia), basada en su experiencia en Vietnam, y continuó con otros largometrajes como Wall Street (1987), Nacido el 4 de julio (1989, premio de la Academia), JFK (1991), Asesinos por naturaleza (1994) y Nixon (1995). Varias de sus películas se destacan por su carácter contestatario y por sus frecuentes interpretaciones controvertidas de ciertos sucesos históricos. Entre su filmografía reciente se cuentan Camino sin retorno (1997), Un domingo cualquiera (1999) y Alejandro Magno (2004).
